Social media is becoming very influential in todays business world. Information does not only have to be displayed for it to be used as research for firms. Public Relation campaigns use social media to learn how many publics feel about their firm. They use this information to improve relations and set up attitudinal objectives to encourage changes of opinion held by their publics. Social media also can be used as a programming to inform public of events being hosted. Twitter is efficient in this regard. Firms such as BP have used FlickR to show their efforts to combat the oil spill in the Gulf to regain customer and public satisfaction.
