Just a quick note to let everyone know the SXSWi 2011 panel proposal I'm on: "Influencer Throwdown: Proving Influence Once and For All" has been chosen -- thanks you your support.
We'll be discussing how influence "experiments" like Fast Company's project can do more harm then good when it comes to defining and measuring influence. It's more than how many people you can get to vote for you. It's not popularity.
I'm looking forward to focusing on this widely-defined topic for the next few months with fellow panelists David Binkowski, Saul Colt and Krista Neher. It's an honor to work with these folks and share the dais with them. I'm also excited to represent Empower MediaMarketing on stage and share some of the things we've learned on this topic. One of our mantras regarding influence is "Instead of counting the people who reach you need to reach the people who count."
But most of all I'm grateful for your support. You know who you are. :-) So I hope you can join us now in the discussion (more to come there) and in Austin when we continue the discussion on the current state of influence -- the real, the real bad and the future.
