The Ironic Hypocrisy of Blogger & Podcaster Magazine

Bp0407cover_2Blogger & Podcaster magazine just launched. How do I know? They sent me a news release. A plain, old-fashioned news release that was even sent out over BusinessWire.

The industry that regularly chastises mainstream media for not adapting to social media now has a print media vehicle. All the while, this industry eagerly charts mainstream media's death along with the plain, old-fashioned news release.

That's rich.

The magazine is starting with a 20,000 print circulation. Micro Persuasion has at least twice the readership based on just Feedburner stats. Print subscriptions cost $79 USD, and it’s also free online.

Needless to say, the magazine is already drawing questions and some criticism. Others wonder if the publisher is trying to punk the blogosphere. It must be the magazine's titanic tagline.

Paperless Ego?
No worries. I'll bet lunch money the very bloggers wanting to dance a jig at the mainstream media/news release mass burial will be the same ones responding to reporter interview requests for the next issue of B&P -- via email of course. After all, those media clips come in handy when you’re trying to land a book deal.

Honest to god. The layout of that cover reminds me of one of the military magazines that flash up on screen at the end of "Stripes"

"Convicted?" "No, never convicted."

LOL
