Some blog research conducted on Media Map has me curious about Bacon's approach to blog tracking. Case in point, check out this timeline:
Nov. 17, 2004: A search shows 102 blogs monitored by Bacon's.
Dec. 23, 2004: Bacon's announces it will formally begin tracking blogs.
Jan. 25, 2005: A search shows 91 blogs monitored.
I know, not a huge discrepancy. I assume they are eliminating old, outdated blogs from the listings. But it has me wondering if Bacon's has announced HOW they are deciding which blogs they will be tracking?

Not to mention, PubSub claims it tracks 8 million blogs, BlogPulse claims 5 million. Clearly there are more than 91 relevant blogs to track.
Bacon's has some work cut out for it. Especially if you consider that, to a certain degree, they will be weighing in on the difference between citizen journalists and traditional media.
Good luck with that!
