I live in Washington state and am working on trivia about our state. Can you help me by telling me the origin of the name of the coffee giant - Starbucks. I have heard several ideas and really would like to find the real origin of the name. Please email an answer. Thanks

From http://www.mhhe.com/business/management/thompson/11e/case/starbucks.html :

"Baldwin, Siegel, and Bowker chose the name Starbucks in honor of Starbuck, the coffee-loving first mate in Herman Melville's Moby Dick(so company legend has it), and because they thought the name evoked the romance of the high seas and the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. The new company's logo, designed by an artist friend, was a two-tailed mermaid encircled by the store's name."

The prospect of PR leading the marketing campeign team is very exciting. But how can one summount the ever -present challenge from core advertisement which appears to always have ready justification for the big spend on it especially in a country like Nigeria where PR is still in its embrayo.
