Kevin Dugan

For the bulk of his 17-year career in marketing communications,
Kevin Dugan has used the Internet to advance his clients and his
industry.

Dugan explores the intersection of paid and earned media as Director
of Marketing for Empower MediaMarketing in Mt. Adams. Prior to this he was director of marketing communications for FRCH Design Worldwide for five years. Prior to this, he spent eight years with Gyro:HSR—a full-service marketing communications agency.

Kevin has been blogging since 2002. His blogs Strategic Public
Relations and The Bad Pitch Blog are award-winning, including a 2007
PRSA Bronze Anvil Award. Both blogs are ranked by Advertising Age
magazine’s Power 150 a ranking of the world's top marketing blogs. And
his public relations efforts have been acknowledged with six national
awards in the last eight years.

While at HSR, his work helped earn Silver and Bronze Anvil awards from PRSA and an award from PR Week (Silver Anvil and PR Week in 2004 for AK Steel, Bronze Anvil in 2005 for CONTECH Construction Products). Dugan’s work has included everything from new product launches to custom publishing.

Dugan has counseled a variety of brands, including GE Plastics, Xerox, Allianz Global Risks US, several small software companies and Makino machine tools. His work for Makino helped earn HSR a PRSA Silver Anvil Award of Excellence in 2001.

Prior to HSR, he worked for Sive/Young & Rubicam. At Y&R, he worked for companies including Procter & Gamble, Teklogix International, Senco Products, Square D Company, IBM and CompuServe.

Dugan got hooked on the Internet in 1995 while working with IBM, CompuServe and the United Way to develop the first online donation program for the United Way's annual fund drive. Dugan created Strategic Public Relations in July of 2002.

Dugan is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America. His interests include his family, photography, running, music, architecture and, of course, blogs.
